Watford Women’s Centre is a local charity that supports women over the age of 18 experiencing domestic abuse or struggling in their relationship. They help women to live independent, productive and healthy lives. Their services include one to one domestic abuse support, counselling, careers advice and education and training.

Royal Courts of Justice Advice is a Citizens Advice Service based in London. They can assist families from all over the UK who have a case in a family court. They can advise, and in some cases represent you for free.

A charity offering information, advice and support services for parents on how to do the best for their children. They advise mothers, grandparents and other carers, as well as fathers. Services include a support helpline, local branch meetings and online factsheets.

National Family Mediation

Information about family mediation and a directory to search for registered family mediators by area. Family mediation is usually quicker, more cost-effective and less stressful than heading to court for separation or divorce. If you’re on a low income, you may be able to get legal aid to help with the cost of mediation.

Advice Now produce free online and downloadable guides on many issues including separation, child arrangements and divorcing without a solicitor. They are easy to read and explain what you need to know.
